Manufacturing Technology
Welcome to Manufacturing Technology at Mesa Community College!
The Manufacturing Programs are divided into several separate degree programs:
Manufacturing Technology students are prepared for employment in manufacturing support positions such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programmers, CAD/CAM/CNC implementers, equipment maintenance technicians, and product testing technicians. Graduates may also select a curriculum path leading to becoming a supervisor or manager of manufacturing support technicians or production management. There is one A.A.S. degree in this area with three options, Manufacturing CNC, Manufacturing Machining, and Manufacturing Management. Certificates of Completion are also offered in each of these options.
Manufacturing Engineering Technology students focus on the skills necessary to design, develop, construct, and implement manufacturing equipment and production systems. They also may be involved in the translation of engineering designs into finished product and to assess the challenges and manage the risks inherent in the equipment and manufacturing processes selected. There is one A.A.S. degree for this specialization.
Machine Technology – Tool and Die graduates are involved in the development of the new tools to produce new products and assisting the Manufacturing Engineers in the introduction of new products. Through their specialized knowledge of machinery, tooling designs and complexities, and materials, they develop tools, dies, and fixtures needed to produce prototype parts and to support production startup and continuing production.
