New and Continuing Students
Whether you are completely new to MCC or just need to sign
up for a distance learning course, this page gets you started.
If you have attended MCC in the past, but have skipped a semester,
please start with
step 1.
If you are currently attending MCC, please
start with
step 3.
-
Apply to MCC (get admitted).
If you have never attended MCC, please start by filling out
a Student Information Form. Please note that you do not
need to use your Social Security Number (SSN) for your
student ID number. You may request a different number to
be assigned to you.
If you have attended MCC before (but are not currently a
student), please contact the Records
Office to update your information.
See the
Admissions and Recruitment
page and the
Student Services
page for more information.
-
Prepare to register.
Once you've been admitted, there are a number of steps you may
need to take before registering for classes.
Please see the
section called
"
Preparing for Registration"
on the Student Services page for more information.
The most important steps to consider are:
- Take course placement tests (if needed)
- Obtain academic advisement (if needed)
- Choose a major (if needed)
- Have your transcripts transferred from other
colleges (if needed)
- Consult the
college catalog
or the
class schedule to decide what classes you want to take.
-
Register.
The
registration calendar
(academic calendar)
gives the dates that registration, drop/add, and
withdrawal may be done. You can find the classes you
want to take by looking at the
"Internet Classes" portion of the
class schedule.
To sign up for classes, go to the
MCC Online Registration
page.
The
Student Services
site contains additional information
for students who enroll in hybrid or on-campus classes.
-
Pay fees and obtain class materials.
To get information about current tuition rates, special
fees, financial aid, and methods of payment, see the
Student Services
site.
If your course requires a book in addition to the
online materials, you can find out what books are
required from the
online bookstore
managed by Efollett.
There is a
section
where you can find out about the
books required for any class currently offered at MCC
(select the button called "FIND YOUR TEXTBOOKS").
Your instructor may require other materials, such as a
certain calculator for math classes.
