Statement of Program
A Blood borne program is developed
to limit employee’s occupational exposure to blood
and other potentially infectious materials. A blood
borne program would apply to any employee who can
reasonably be expected to have contact with blood
or other bodily fluids in performances of their
job duties.
Potential exposure is defined under Occupational Exposure as reasonably anticipated skin, eye, mucous membrane, or perenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials that may result from the performance of an employee’s duties. For example, Police Officers and recreation staff providing first aid. (Good Samaritan acts such as assisting a co-worker with a nosebleed would not be considered occupational exposure).
