- Know where closest fire extinguisher is.
- Know your emergency exits.
- Learn your exit routes.
- Know your assembly location.
- Call 911 and/or Public Safety.
- Do not panic!
Prevention Planning -On-the-Job
- Keep work areas clean and clutter-free.
- Know how to handle and store chemicals.
- Keep flammables away from ignition sources.
- Utilize flammable storage cabinets.
- Check MSDS's for flammable/combustible information.
- Do not block fire extinguishers or pull stations.
- Do not overload outlets or circuits.
- Inspect wires for possible damage and replace as needed.
- Know what you are expected to do in an emergency.
- Practice good housekeeping techniques in the lab/office/work area.
