Description: This program offers students the opportunity to earn college credits while participating in a home stay program with a host Mexican family. The available course options are designed to incorporate the experience of living in Guanajuato with educational goals by including activities such as visits to art galleries, museums, cemeteries, silver mines, haciendas, pyramids, volcanoes and other archeological, cultural, and historical sites.

Location:

Founded by the Spanish in the early 16th century, the historic town of Guanajuato (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is one of Mexico's most prominent mining cities as well as a colonial gem, tucked into the mountains at 6,700 feet. This compact city of about 100,000 residents, offers plenty of opportunities to walk, enjoy a casual meal, and visit historical sites that date back to the 1500's. Classes are taught at the University of Guanajuato.   See a map.
