The ITS Department at MCC has several systems in place to protect data. We use physical security: locked and restricted access to cables, servers, and computers; as well as data security which is based on software.

We require authentication (or a password) to access our network, and while public portions of our website are viewable by anyone, the real data of the college is stored safely behind programming safeguards, firewalls, and authenticaton systems.

All data is "backed-up" on a regular basis to keep the most recent version available in case of corruption or data loss. Full backups are completed on a daily basis at MCC.

In the case of a server failure, the network administrator and the data storage adminstrator will replace the data with the latest backup and work to recover as much of the lost and/or damaged data as possible. To date, we have never had a total systems failure at MCC.
