System Requirements

Due to the architecture of the browser, current versions of AOL browser for Macintosh do not currently support Macromedia Flash Player 6+

Netscape 6 users: Macromedia recommends updating to at least version 6.2 or higher. Though Netscape 4.x is supported, Netscape 6.1 and 6.0 are not supported.

Speakers / Microphone: To use the optional Audio chat, you should have speakers and a microphone installed on your computer.

Flash plug-in installation

Go to the Flash Player Download page.1

Installation Instructions
1. Click the Download Now button. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the Installer.
2. Save the Installer to your Desktop and wait for it to download completely.
3. An Installer icon will appear on your desktop. Double-click on it.
4. Read and click through the dialog boxes.
5. When the Install button appears, click it to install Macromedia Flash Player 7 into your browser's plug-ins folder.
6. Your web browser will launch a new window. When you see the Macromedia Flash Player 7 logo and text, the installation was successful.

How to use the Whiteboard

The whiteboard allows you to draw and see the freehand drawings of everyone in the chatroom. Select the type of line you want to draw from the drop down box (Straight, Curved, etc.) Draw by clicking down with your mouse and holding down the mouse button as you move it. When you let go of the mouse button, your drawing stops. You can also add Text objects, change the size of the line, or change the color of the line. Only the tutor can clear the whiteboard.

How to use Audio

Audio chat allows you to send and receive sound to everyone in the chatroom. The first time you send/receive audio, you may see a popup box which asks you whether to Allow or Deny audio. Choose the Allow option.

When the circle next to a name is lighted green, it indicates the person is speaking. If you would like to speak, make sure your microphone is turned on, then click on the talk button with your mouse and hold your mouse down while you are talking, similar to a walkie-talkie.
