Academic Computing Support

Patron Support

In support of student academic pursuits, the libraries Academic Computing Support Staff assist patrons in accessing software, and answers basic questions about the use of hardware and peripherals. Assistance is not provided for computer problems involving programs not supported by the MCC Libraries/Academic Computing nor is staff time available for in-depth individual training in the use of personal computers. Patrons who need in-depth instruction and training are encouraged to enroll in specific application courses which are offered by the college in the use of computers and the internet.

Inclusion of Software on Library Computers

Faculty using software (including CD ROMs that accompany textbooks) to support student learning, may request that this software become part of the library image. Library software access is on a semester-by-semester basis.

Faculty is responsible for providing

  • the software
  • the appropriate licensing agreements
  • user passwords if necessary
  • instruction in the use of software
  • any upgrades
  • assistance with maintenance
  • training
