  • Encyclopedias and other reference works
  • Magazines and journals
  • Newspapers
  • The Internet
  • While the Internet may provide useful information, it may not be your best source.

    Indexed collection of 1,896 academic journals and magazines, more than 900 titles include full text articles in addition to abstracts. Subject areas covered include astronomy, religion, law, history, psychology, humanities, current events, sociology, communications and the general sciences. Covers 1980 to present.     Indexed and abstracted collection of 2,700 periodical titles representing the subjects of business, consumer health, general science, social sciences and technology. Coverage begins in 1984 with full text coverage from 1990.

    National News
    Online access to the top five newspapers in the United States including: The Christian Science Monitor, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and the L.A. Times in full text since 1999 to the present.


    WilsonSelect Plus
    Full text of articles from over 800 periodicals covering a wide variety of subjects. It is comprised of 50% of titles from Reader's Guide Abstracts, Social Sciences Abstracts, Humanities Abstracts, General Science Abstracts and Wilson Business Abstracts. Coverage from 1994 to present.

    Encyclopedia Britannica Online
    Includes the full text of current print versions of Encyclopedia Britannica, Britannica’s Student Encyclopedia, and the Britannica Concise Encyclopedia. Users also have access to a dictionary, a thesaurus and multimedia resources.

    Accessing Library Resources
    From Home

    If you have a computer with Internet access, you can make use of the library’s databases from the convenience of your own home. Simply set your Internet browser to the library’s main web page (shown below) and follow the links.
    Follow these steps:

    1. Go to http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/library/

    2. To search for magazines or journals, click on “electronic resources.” At the top of the index page, click the link “Off-Campus Access.”

    3. Log on with your MCC e-mail user name and password.

    4. Make a selection of one of the databases listed.

    All of the databases listed may be accessed from your home or school computer.
