Mesa Life Options
Mesa Life Options (MLO) is a new initiative designed to provide baby boomers (mid-life and older adults) with the tools, resources, and one-to-one assistance so that they can explore new opportunities, be active in their communities and rediscover who they are. Programs and services include life planning with trained peer life mentors, life-long learning and re-careering, social interaction, workshops, seminars, and access to civic engagement and volunteerism opportunities.

MLO is a Next Chapter Initiative with support from the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust. Three other Next Chapter Initiative projects in the East Valley have been funded, each providing different services and programs specifically geared for the baby boomer population:

  • Tempe Connections Café
  • Scottsdale Life Ventures Center
  • Boomerang-Chandler

Why is this new program so important? A few questions to consider:

  • Are you one of the 77 million baby boomers moving with optimism toward retirement? What will you create out of this next chapter of life?
  • Do you define yourself by what you do? Have you thought about who you are on the title of your business card?
  • Are you a worker in transition looking for re-careering opportunities?
  • Do you want to stay mentally and physically healthy and active throughout your life?
  • Do you want to connect with your community in ways that will make a real and positive difference in people’s lives?

Mesa Community College, Mesa Senior Services, Inc., and the City of Mesa have joined as partners in this new project to serve the citizens of Mesa. The Center for Public Policy is an active partner in Mesa Life Options and coordinates the Civic Engagement and Volunteerism program components.
