Short Bio for Karla Gottlieb

Karla Gottlieb has been a consultant and trainer in the service-learning curriculum for four years. She was educated at Yale and San Francisco State universities. She was the Director of the Center for Community Involvement at Miami-Dade Community College, North Campus in Miami, Florida for three years and oversaw all service-learning and student volunteer activities for that campus. Since then, she has trained faculty, students, administrators, and community partners in this pedagogy at various colleges in the U.S., the Virgin Islands, and India. Additionally, she is the author of a book on the eighteenth century Jamaican Maroons entitled The Mother of Us All: A History of Queen Nanny, Leader of the Windward Jamaican Maroons.
