Elizabeth Larson-Keagy is a cultural geographer who has taught full- and part-time in colleges and universities in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona. In 1995 Elizabeth’s work focus turned to community dialogue and civic engagement. She coordinated "Voices from Communities in Transition" for the Arizona Humanities Council, a project that was awarded the distinguished Schwartz Prize for "Excellence in Public Planning" from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and 1997-2000 Dr. Larson-Keagy developed and implemented "Scottsdale Voices," a citizen outreach program, for the City of Scottsdale. Elizabeth currently teaches cultural geography part-time at both Arizona State University, and Mesa Community College, where she received the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty of the Year Award (2002). Apart from teaching Elizabeth is the Executive Editor of the Journal for Civic Commitment, published online by the Community College National Center for Community Engagement, as well other publications of the Center. She also consults and lectures on dialogue, cross-cultural communications, civic responsibility, and service learning locally, nationally, and internationally.
