Responsible for the development, implementation, appropriate growth and evaluation of the Civic Engagement and Service Learning programs at the College. Most recently responsible for defining and implementing a Civic Engagement Initiative for the College in conjunction with the President, staff, faculty, students, local benefactors, advisory boards, Massachusetts Campus Compact and the PEW Charitable Trust. Program development includes appropriate grant writing, educational material development, long range planning and goal setting and conducting educational programs. A 10-year plan was developed for the Civic Engagement program, which will be modeled on the highly successful Service Learning program, built in collaboration with a team of staff and faculty.

Provided specific educational, research or training needs on a contract basis. Major clients include the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Mount Wachusett Community College, University of Massachusetts; Center For Economic Development and School of Home Economics. Developed a Train The Trainer model for professionals working with young adults with learning disabilities in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Education. Planned and implemented "Strategies For Life: Breast Cancer Changing The Legacy" a professional symposium highlighting cancer prevention and early detection, "Gimme 5!" a nutrition pledge program for over 15,000 second grade students. Developed a survey tool to assist in the evaluation Massachusetts school lunch programs and conducted the survey in cooperation with the American Heart Association's Healthy Heart Committee. Planned and implemented a needs assessment to support a proposed pilot program involving youth at risk due to alcohol abuse within the family system. Other clients include the Blackstone Valley Rape Crises Team, European Sport Horses of America, Inc., Hopkinton Adult Education Program, HorsePlay Magazine, Massachusetts Bay Community College, New England Dressage Association, Pekelo Design and Song's Hapkido Martial Arts Academy.

North Central Massachusetts Community Crises Response Team. In conjunction with OnSite Academy. A group of professionals who are trained to provide support to communities who experience a critical incident.
Building Support Within Our Communities: A Basic Critical Incident Stress Management Training, OnSite Academy. Over 50 individuals trained as volunteer members of North Central Mass Critical Incident Response team.
"Resources for the Journey." April 2002. In conjunction with Gardner Visiting Nursing Association. A seminar for community members dealing with grief. This program was conducted by area professionals and attended by approximately 70 individuals from communities across the region.
United Way/MWCC Community Needs Forums: 2001-2002 over 100 individuals and public officials from 38 community agencies meet to identify local needs and concerns in responding to impacts of September 11, war on terrorism and economic downturn. Developed educational programs at MWCC in response to those needs.
A Dangerous World, Addressing The Epidemic of Youth Violence - Dr. James Garbarino. March 2002. Over 300 MWCC students, health care, education and law enforcement professionals, public officials and community members and leaders attended this program. Dr. Garbarino, an internationally recognized expert in child abuse issues spoke to participants about the issue of why youth today are so angry and act out violently.
