MCC parking lots are still at risk for larceny.

Car theft at MCC has declined since the January string of eight thefts and five vehicle break-ins, according to MCC College Safety Chief Vince Moran. Car theft, however, continues.

"There have been two vehicles (stolen) since then," Moran said. "Both were Chevy Pickups that were recovered with their stereos missing."

Mesa police found a 1991 Chevrolet pickup in the parking lot of the Harkins Theater behind MCC on Feb.16, one day after it was reported stolen from the east parking lot of MCC’s main campus.

The truck was missing a pager as well as the stereo.

On Feb.20, Mesa Police found a 1992 Chevrolet pickup at the Toys ‘R’ Us parking lot just east of MCC where it had been reported stolen earlier that day.

Because the car thefts in January were all pickup trucks, Moran believes the same perpetrators, who have yet to be apprehended, may be involved.
