Discover Mexico
“Discover Mexico!” is a two-day celebration of Mexico’s rich
culture presented through dance, art, and music 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28 and 29 at the Heard Museum, 2301 N.
Central Ave., Phoenix.
The “magic realism” paintings of Mexican artist FoLe and students
with whom he worked during his month-long residency at the museum

Mesa Pow Wow
The 17th Annual Mesa Pow Wow will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday,
Oct. 28 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at Pioneer Park, 526
E. Main St.
The traditional event will feature dance competition, arts vendors,

Family Festival
“Simply Citrus!” will be an all day three-day family festival
featuring continuous entertainment, interactive games, sports events,
and much more on Friday, Nov. 3 through Sunday, Nov. 5 in Downtown
Mesa, Center Street between University and Main.
Each day’s activities will end with a laser and fireworks show.

Walk for Life
“The Walk to Remember” will be 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday,
Oct. 21. Participants will meet at the clock tower to join a memorial
walk around the outside parameters of MCC’s campus along Dobson
and Southern. The event honors October as National Pregnancy and
Infant Loss Awareness Month. A ceremony will follow at the campus

An open house on career opportunities in technology-based business
and electronic fields, as well as the educational programs offered
at DeVry Institute of Technology, will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 18 at DeVry’s Phoenix campus located at 2149 W. Dunlap.
The seminar will include a film on opportunities in technology-based
fields and several discussion sessions with DeVry representatives.

Contemporary Art Show
“Momento Mori”, an exhibition of contemporary artwork exploring
the themes of loss and grieving, will be shown noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday
through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday beginning Oct. 17.
The exhibition will go through Saturday, Nov. 18 at Mesa Contemporary

Play Auditions
Auditions for the upcoming play, “The Laundry”, will be 3:30
to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Oct.18 and Oct.
19 in the Theatre Outback’s Green Room (TH 2). “The Laundry”, a
drama by David Guerdon and directed by Beverly Byrd, demonstrates
the odd behavior of a quarreling family combined with the Greek
myth of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur. For information, call (480)

The Fall Choral Concert will be 7 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct.

Sept. 26
A silver 2000 Hyundai Elantra, parked in the southeast parking
lot, was broken into. A Visa bank card, a debit card, $160 cash,
checks totaling $1,640 and 30 CDs were stolen.
Sept. 27
Persons unknown broke into a 1991 Chevrolet pickup in the stadium
parking lot by prying off the rear window and disabling the alarm
system. The stereo system and 33 CDs were stolen. The owner estimates
the total loss to be $1,085.
A 1984 GMC pickup was stolen from the south parking
lot.
A 1992 half-ton GMC truck was stolen from the southeast
parking lot.
Persons unknown activated the fire alarm and sprinkling
system in the men’s restroom in the MP Building. Maintenance was
notified and shut both systems down.
Sept. 28
A license plate from a Nissan Altima parked in the southeast
parking lot was stolen.
Although a student’s car window had been broken
into in the east parking lot, nothing was reported stolen.
Oct. 4
A student reported his vehicle, at the Brown Road and Country
Club campus, had been broken into through the rear window and an
attempt was made to steal his stereo system.
Thieves removed a stereo system from a female student’s
vehicle at the same location.
Oct. 6
A male student, who had Epilieptic seizures and was incoherent
at times, was transported to Desert Samaritan Hospital at his request.
