Affirmative dissatisfaction

MESA LEGEND
Submitted December 12, 2000

Dear Legend,

I am writing to discuss the abuse and legalized use of discrimination. Affirmative action is a racist attempt by the United States Government to "make-up" for past mistakes, namely slavery.

Our leaders nationally, locally, on MCCD’s administration and on Mesa Community College’s administration feel two wrongs make a right. MCCD’s affirmative action policy states "(applicants) are treated equally, without regard to their race"(or)sex."

But then MCCD contradicts themselves, saying, "affirmative action highlights college activities and efforts related to the outreach and recruitment of minority and women students."

Clearly, preferential treatment is given to a select group, therefore, instituting discrimination.

Alan Keyes states, "They do not see that no one can cure a past injustice with another injustice (affirmative action), and that it patronizes American blacks because it presumes that blacks cannot succeed on their own."

If after hearing these facts and proof that affirmative action is a racist law and you support it, you are then asserting that two wrongs do make a right.
