Information provided by MCC College Safety
Jan. 15
Employees returning back to work reported that their computers had
been used over the holiday period by construction workers and items
considered to be pornographic were downloaded.
The company employing the workers in the TC Building was notified.
Jan. 16
A copy of a GED test was removed from the Assessment Center by a
male non-student, who later directed certified officers to where
he threw it when he left the building.
As a result, the state education department has closed down GED
testing at MCC for an undetermined amount of time.
The individual responsible for removing the test was found to be
on probation for an apparent narcotics violation in his home state
of Florida.
Jan. 26
A student was arrested in the library for trespassing after being
warned numerous times to stay out of the building.
She was formerly employed there and college safety received complaints
about her harassing employees. She had been counseled to stay out
of the building by a certified officer and the chief.
The form of arrest was cited and released for a date at the Mesa
city court.
A certified college officer observed a college
employee dumping garbage on the ground on the south side of campus.
He was questioned about his actions and replied that he had been
doing it "for ten years." He was then directed to a nearby
dumpster.
Jan. 30
An individual trying to sell a lap-top to a student for $300 was
pointed out to a certified college officer. The officer approached
the man who told him that he bought three lap-tops from another
man and had sold two of them.
When city police arrived, it was determined that the man had warrants
out for his arrest, and was a suspect in a number of local burglaries
in Mesa.
When the officers opened the neatly wrapped box and found it filled
with rocks, the man replied, "Gee, I guess I got ripped off
by the guy that sold them to me." He was held in the Mesa city
jail overnight and faced the judge the next day
