Love it or leave it

There is a saying, "If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all." I came up with a little saying of my own after reading your Sports Editor’s editorial in the Mesa Legend’s Oct. 30 publication: "If you can’t say anything intelligent, write editorials for the Legend."

Mr. Lambright says that we should try to understand Osama bin Laden’s point of view before dropping bombs on known terrorist organizations such as the Taliban in Afghanistan.

I say we should remember the dead servicemen of the U.S.S. Cole, the American embassy bombings in Africa, and the World Trade Center disaster. Who is responsible for all of these tragedies? I’ll give you one guess.

Take a walk past the clock tower on campus and look down one day. Try to remember that workers are still removing thousands of innocent civilian corpses from the rubble. Maybe the Art Department’s chalk drawing would have a little more impact on pacifists like you if it was rendered in blood.

Maybe there’s a little to spare in the bloodmobile that’s usually right there.

You asked in your article, "How does one method of murder become socially validated, even accepted?" I’ll tell you how. It becomes validated the instant one, let alone thousands, of innocent American civilians are deprived of their right to draw breath. Take a deep breath yourself, because here comes the real shocker – you’re right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness was bought and paid for in the blood of patriots and veterans.

"America: Love It or Leave It!"
