The event will be held in the Navajo Room in the Kirk Student Center on Nov. 20 at noon. The purpose of the event is to help participants gain a personal perspective on the reality of hunger in our community and in the world. The event is free and open to the public. Donations of canned food and money are greatly appreciated to help support the needy in our community. For more information, call Duane Oakes at (480) 461-7214. Space is limited. To reserve a space, call the Center for Service-Learning at (480) 461-7393. New Student CenterMCC at Red Mountain held an open house for the new Student Center on Oct. 29. Program adviser for the Student Center, Krista Walker, will be available to students interested in forming clubs at the MCC at Red Mountain campus. The Student Center will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students interested in forming a club will need to pick up a "club packet," find a faculty or staff member willing to sponsor the club and get a petition signed by 25 students who think the club would be a worth-while addition to the campus. The Student Center will also be working with Career Services and Career Re-entry to help students find jobs. Anyone with suggestions for campus events at Red Mountain or interested in starting a club should stop by the Student Center or contact Walker at (480) 654-7758. Theater: ‘Of Mice and Men’The Theater Arts Department will present John Steinbeck’s "Of Mice and Men," directed by Gary Stephens. This drama, about two drifters, will be showing Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. There will be a matinee on Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available in the Theatre Outback box office, which can be reached at (480) 461-7170.
