Spotlight Elizabeth Larson-Keagy, a cultural geographer, will speak on the culture of American Arabs. This lecture is part of a series called Programs for Peace, sponsored by the City of Mesa.

Her discussion will address who, specifically, are the American Arab peoples, and the cultural diversity and complexity of what it means to be such.

Topics to be discussed include an examination of the backlash of Sept. 11’s events, as well as the stereotypes of American Arabs and others with Middle Eastern backgrounds.

This event will take place at the Mesa Main Library in the Saguaro Room from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and admission if free. For more information, call (480) 644-2700.
