books in lost and foundSpotlight  From time to time we all lose things. No one does it intentionally, it just happens. Students on tight hectic schedules forget things. Too often these things are important and irreplaceable. This is why MCC's College Safety department keeps a lost and found.

Get ready to rock!
Where can you get over 8 hours of live music from 17 bands? ASMCC's battle of the bands on April 16 beginning at 10 a.m. in front of the clock tower.

Concerts in the Park
Once again the Mesa Arts Center provides the public with a free out door concert series. It is a four week series that will take place on the patio at the Dobson Ranch Library.

Politics on campus
U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., will be speaking to students on April 15 in the Paul A. Elsner Library on MCC's Southern and Dobson campus at 9 a.m.

Get Books
There is nothing better than a good book. That is why they are having a used book sale April 9-10, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the first floor lobby of the Paul A. Elsner Library.

It's history
This year the Arizona History Convention celebrates Salt River Project's 100 years of service to the Valley and Central Arizona. The convention will take place April 24–26 at Tempe's Fiesta Inn.

Cast Your Vote
ASMCC, MCC's student government is holding elections on April 30. Polling will be on the main campus in front of the Kirk Center April 30 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., and at the Red Mountain campus on May 1.

Have You Heard?
Phoenix's own Heard Museum will be host to several upcoming events:

  • On April 5, Jake Page will be signing copies of his book "In the hands of the Great Spirit."
  • April 12 marks the opening day of the "Fusing Traditions" exhibit.
  • "Stars and Stripes" is a collection that pays homage to the American flag with more than 20 works on display.

Art at Gammage
Art works in several mediums will be on display in the lobby of ASU's Gammage Auditorium. From April 1–25 art from Deborah McMillon-Nering, Byron Nelson and Joan Watters will be on display.

Breakfast!
Have your work looked over by professional writers, teachers and publishers at the 1st Annual Writer's Roundtable Breakfast. The event will take place in the Hoover Room, at the Sun City Library.

MARCH 13
A student reported that between 7:10 and 9:55 a.m. a blue Roadmaster 18 speed bicycle was stolen from the bike racks east of the EF Building. She reported securing the bicycle with a U-lock, but found only the lock still secured to the rack.

MARCH 24

Between 12 and 8 p.m. an Aramark employee reported that person(s) unknown keyed the left front fender of his vehicle as it was parked in the northeast parking lot.

At 11:30 p.m. College Safety received a report of a missing person. A subject reported that his wife, a fellow student, left her classroom at 10 p.m. following an argument between the two. He hasn’t seen her since and was concerned because he had no means of transportation to their home in Phoenix. At 1:15 a.m. College Safety received information that the woman had arrived home safely.

MARCH 25
At 8:50 a.m. a student received minor head injuries when she was struck by the lowering control arm at the employee parking lot south of the LS Building. She had apparently bent over to pick up her pencil she had dropped, not realizing the arm was up. She was treated by paramedics and she opted to drive herself home.

MARCH 27
At 9:30 a staff member reported that a college owned Palm Pilot was stolen from his personal vehicle in Glendale during the night of March 22.

MARCH 28
At 12 p.m. a student reported that persons unknown had broken into his 1986 Volvo station wagon as it was parked near Arcadia Village at the red mountain campus and removed a Kenwood CD/MP3 player valued at $700.

APRIL 2
Persons unknown stole three wireless internet transmitters from the PS Building sometime during the previous night.
