Spotlight  If a play had been labeled "highly literate, ingenious and intelligent"who would not want to see it? Well now is everyone’s chance. MCC's theater department will be performing Tom Stoppard's Arcadia.

The play takes place in only one room in an English estate. The plot alternates between the 19th century and the present day. The story moves through the torrid series of events until the collide at the end of the play.

Lady Thomasina who is a 13 year old student that falls in love with her tutor. The two develop a relationship where they speak of romance and the universe. The present day part of the plot consists of two competing modern scholars who are uncovering the story of the young girl. They then begin to discover that certain things plague man regardless of time.

The play is based on mathematical theorems, but is a comedy. The dialogue is crisp and light, while sewing its' intellectual seed. The play operates on several levels at once, so even those who do not understand the mathematics of the play can enjoy the story.
