Resurrection Week honored by Campus Crusade for Christ
By Marika DeHay

Mesa students involved in the Campus Crusade for Christ discussed the necessity of the cross on April 17 in honor of Resurrection Week.

Guest speaker Tyler Johnson addressed the group with spiritual matters relating to the resurrection.

Students were able to respond with their opinions and quoting Bible passages as examples.

The Campus Crusade for Christ is a club on campus that provides weekly opportunities for students to study and discuss the Bible in a group setting.

The organization offers materials in the form of guest speakers, videos, books, and music.

They have an open door policy for anyone who would like to attend the meetings and meet every Thursday at noon downstairs in the Kirk Center during the semester.

“We usually have a speaker every week, someone affiliated with a church or ministry,” said Kelly Byke, vice president.

Discussions are based on lessons in the Bible and other topics revolving around the meaning of Christianity.

“I’ve been here for two years and what I love is sharing the gospel with people. That’s what we’re all about. Hopefully (we’re) just saving people and putting people in heaven, that’s kind of a fundamental goal here.”

Group members attend different churches and ministries around the valley, so they are able to combine different events.
The club also goes to different forums with ASU’s Campus Crusade for Christ group.

Byke wants students to be aware of the group.

“There is a ministry on campus definitely ready for people who want to learn more about God and his word and how that can be used in your life. (We) Just want to glorify him,” she said. “If you want to meet other Christians, get involved with leadership, we definitely have opportunities for all that stuff and a lot of spiritual growth.

We’re just getting the word out right now. I know there’s a lot of Christians on campus. Having this club on campus, you’re able to get to know people and have a fellowship with other believers.”
