Go Clubbin'
View the numerous clubs that MCC has to offer at the Clubs Carnival. From the River Boarding Club to the Geology Club, there is something for almost every taste. The event takes place at the MCC Courtyard on Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. - 1p.m.

Learn About Domestic Violence
In response to the community issue of domestic violence, an afternoon event, Healing through Education, will be taking place.
Workshop topics will include emotional violence, community activism, life skills, abuser accountability, and Arizona's legal system. Journalist Jana Monnersbach will share her experiences on "Covering the Most Awful Story in Town," along with other presenters from MCC, ASU and domestic violence groups.
The event will be taking place from 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m. on Oct. 10, in the Navajo Room. Reservations are highly recommended as there is limited seating. For more information call (480)-461-7430.

Psychology Lecture
Hear speaker Dr. John McCain talk about violence and youth.
The lecture is open to everyone and is entitled "Youth and Violence, Voices from Within." The presentation takes place on Sept. 26 in the Navajo Room from 6-10 p.m. For more information, call (480) 461-7032.

Writing Contest
Any student enrolled for credit at Maricopa Community Colleges is eligible to enter the District Creative Writing Competition.
Categories include, Creative Non-Fiction, Short Story, Poetry, and a One-Act Play. Prizes are $300 for first place, $150 for second and $100 for honorable mention. Entries are due Nov. 8. For more information, visit ww.mc.maricopa.edu/dept/d13/eng/w_contest.htm

Enjoy Literature in a Garden
In celebration of Native American Recognition Days comes an event entitled "A Literary Night in the Garden." Noted Native American authors Laura Tohe, Ramson Lomatewama, Hershman John and edi web, will be reading their work at the Desert Botanicals Garden's Wildflower Pavilion. The program is presented by ASU's literary magazine, Hayden's Ferry Review, the Desert Botanical Garden and Starbucks. The event costs $7.50 for admission and takes place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11.
