James Cervantes organizes The Living Web.
Spotlight Enjoy free
music, poetry reading, short story readings, book signings and more by
professional artists and students at the two day long multi-media event,
The Living Web. This is the second year that noted musicians, authors,
professors and performers will be presenting and sharing their art and
ideas at MCC.
English professor James Cervantes, an organizer of the event explained
that the name, The Living Web, is derived from the nature of the event,
which he describes as, "A multimedia experience that is live on campus."
The event will have, "An emphasis on a mixture of music and writing,"
said Cervantes, with performances ranging from spoken word to computer
art and music.
Also as part of this year's events will be a performance involving a mix
of music and word entitled "Poetry and Blues," taking place
at Undici Undici. The event will feature poet Jim Simmerman, and fiction
writer Anne Cummins reading their work accompanied by pianist Jed Allen
and bassist John Willis.
Audience participation will be encouraged at all presentations, with question
sessions following the events. Authors' books will be available for purchase
and signing throughout the festival.
Performances begin at 1 p.m. and run all day on Oct. 25 and Oct. 26. For
more information, call (480) 461-7636. See
Events for presentation times.
