Runner up in the Christopher's Annual Video, Darby Schnepf.

Spotlight Competing against 500 college students nationwide may provide some seemingly insurmountable odds for success, but recent associate degree graduate of MCC Darby Schnepf beat those odds.

With her short documentary Schnepf became one of the top seven videos in the The Christophers Annual Video Contest for College Students.

The Christophers is a non-profit organization that encourages individuals to recognize their abilities and use them to raise the standards of public life, they follow the motto that, "It's better to light one candle than to curse the darkness."

Schnepf's short documentary spotlights a program called Comfort the Kids. Comfort the Kids was created by Schnepf's aunt to help alleviate the suffering for the children, and in turn, the families directly affected by Sept. 11, providing them with more than 2,000 hand-made quilts. Schnepf's video highlights the impact that Comfort the Kids made in the victims' lives as well as the impact it made in her aunt's life.

This annual competition draws more than 500 entries from across the U.S. The theme this year was "One Person Can Make a Difference," and the videos were required to be less than five minutes in length.
