Art Faculty ShowSpotlight   In the Navajo Room from Nov. 6-14 the annual faculty art show once again provided students with an opportunity to view the work of their professors. Displayed pieces came in a wide variety of mediums such as paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, pottery and some less familiar formats.

Are You Obsessive-Compulsive?
Learn more about obsessive-compulsive behavior when clinical psychologist Ron D. Kingsley speaks on Nov. 26 in a presentation called “Making Sense of the Senseless: Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms Unveiled.”

The ‘Ethics’ of Terrorism
Come and listen to Dr. David Yount, Professor of Philosophy, discuss the ‘Ethics’ of terrorism in the Kiva Room on Dec. 4 from 2:30-4:00 p.m.

International Education
Enjoy a web-based slide show of sites in Ireland with a presentation focusing on educational opportunities available in Ireland. Event takes place on Nov. 21 in the Kiva Room of the Kirk Center from noon-1:15, light lunch will be served.

Listen to the Vice President and Director of Nutrition at the International Food Information Council in Washington D.C., Susan T. Borra, speak in a seminar entitled “Dimensions and Directions of Health: Choices in the Maze.” The event takes place at Phoenix College in the Bulpitt Auditorium at 7 p.m.

Listen to tobacco awareness consultant Mike Evans speak in the Kiva Room of the Kirk Center on Nov. 21. The presentation will take place from 5:20-7:20 p.m.

World AIDS Day
Celebrate life and promote the eradication of stigma and discrimination for AIDS sufferers at the World’s AIDS Day Health Fair at East Lake Park in Phoenix on Dec. 1 from noon-6 p.m. at 1549 Jefferson.

Theater symbol  Events
Gilbert Days
Rodeo riding, arts and crafts, BBQ, a carnival, and a parade are all involved as part of the 2002 Gilbert Days. Activities catering to people of all ages are available at Gilbert Days, which will be running from now-Nov. 24.

What’s In The Stars?
Visit the Arizona State University Planetarium and be brought up to speed about stars with A New Look at Old Constellations in its fall shows. Shows are at 6:30 p.m., dates will be Nov. 19, 21 and 26.

Travel To The Middle Ages
Come and see the Navajo Room decorated in the fashion of an English manor house of the 16th century at the Madrigal Feaste. Tickets are $40 per head or $280 for a table of eight, with all proceeds going to choral music student scholarships.

Holiday Concert
Get in the holiday spirit with the sounds of the season. Hear the sounds of six choirs of the Phoenix Girls Chorus performing holiday favorites. The concert takes place on Dec. 7 at the First Historic Church on 402 W. Monroe, Phoenix.

Photographic Findings
Members of the Phoenix Camera Club will be sharing their photographic “finds,” from now through Jan. 5. Exhibit hours at the auditorium are Monday- Friday from 1-4 p.m.

Oct. 17
College Safety received a telephone call from the Textbook store across from MCC that a female subject who had refunded stolen textbooks last Thursday was currently inside the store. A certified officer responded and determined that the subject was attempting to sell additional textbooks that were reported stolen from the women’s locker room of the Fitness Center the Friday before. The unarmed certified officer detained the woman and awaited the arrival of Mesa PD. Several minutes later a Mesa officer arrived and found a concealed semi automatic handgun on the woman. The woman was taken into custody for possessing a concealed weapon and an outstanding warrant.

Oct. 24
College Safety Officers located an intoxicated non student near the east end of the LS building. They determined that the subject had walked away from an alcohol treatment ward of Desert Samaritan Hospital. Mesa PD was contacted and they escorted the subject back to the hospital.

Oct. 31
Between 5:30-8:30 p.m. person(s) unknown stole his white 94 Saturn from the south parking lot, directly south of the Theatre Outback. The victim also reported the theft to the Mesa Police Department.

Nov. 9
Following the football game between SCC and MCC there was an altercation between players on both teams. Mesa Police officers on the scene arrested one SCC player. College Safety is working with Mesa PD on the investigation and additional enforcement action is pending.
