Pictured above is the faculty art show that took place in the Navajo Room
of the Kirk Center from Nov. 614.
Spotlight In the Navajo Room from
Nov. 614 the annual faculty art show once again provided students
with an opportunity to view the work of their professors. Displayed pieces
came in a wide variety of mediums such as paintings, drawings, photographs,
sculptures, pottery and some less familiar formats.
Some of the pieces included a vibrant acrylic and water color crayon piece
by Justine Mantor-Waldie and an India ink pen drawing done by Michael
Brennan with pictures of pigs strapped to operating tables and other powerful
imagery. Other pieces displayed included a stone work by Linda Speranza,
a digital artist book was used by Steve Kostell, a porcelain and underglaze
by Jane Kelsey-Mapel and many others.
This is the one of the best shows weve ever had, said
Neal Winter, a photography lab technician responsible for organizing the
show.
The show draws around 1,000 students each year who peruse the pieces,
most are there just to look but some of the artwork was also for sale.
Prices of the work ranged from $80 for a photograph by Bob Galloway up
to $4000 for a polished porcelain piece by Nobuhito Nishigawara. In April
the student art show will be taking place.
