Handel’s ‘Messiah’
For the fifteenth year, the performance of highlights from Handel’s “Messiah,” will be presented at South Mountain Community College on Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union of the college.

Free Symphonic Sound
The Mesa Symphony is bringing holiday cheer to the East Valley once again with its annual free family holiday pops concert. The concert is being presented at the Mesa Amphitheater on Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.

A Joyous Cabaret At Unity
Listen to a musical performance featuring local Valley professional musicians and soloists on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at 1837 W. Guadalupe suite 105.

Holiday Music
Enjoy the top three performance level choirs of the Phoenix Girls Chorus performing classical holiday arrangements. The performance takes place at the First United Methodist Church 5510 N. Central Ave. Phoenix on Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Bus Stop
The setup is from the famous comedy by William Inge called “Bus Stop.” The performances of "Bus Stop," the famous comedy by William Inge, will take place at the Theatre Outback Dec. 5–7 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

See A Scrooge
Twenty-one actors representing seven Valley communities will bring a Charles Dickens classic on stage when, “A Christmas Carol,” is performed at the Herberger Theater Center on Dec. 7–22.

Learn how to search out your family history with instructor DeAnne Shelley of the Mesa Family History Center. The event is called “Exploring Genealogy on the Internet.”

Need To Pass A Class?
Than you should sign up for free tutoring that will be offered in many different subjects during finals week on a drop-in basis. The tutoring is organized by the Learning Enhancement Center and will be available Dec. 14 and Dec. 16–18.

Farmers Market
Browse a selection of fresh-picked produce, whole grain breads, rolls, jams, jellies, pickles, salsas, arts, crafts and more every Friday at the Mesa Community Farmers Market on the grassy area in front of Rendezvous Center on 263 N. Center Street.

“I Have A Dream . . . ”
On Jan. 20 there will be a celebration breakfast, downtown parade and community festival in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The breakfast takes place at 8 a.m., is $30 and requires reservations, the other events are free. The parade runs down Main Street at 11 a.m. and ends up at the Mesa Amphitheatre for the festival.

Nov. 13
A female student was struck by an electric cart driven by an MCC employee on the west side of the HIC. She was treated at the scene by College Safety for minor abrasions. She refused further medical treatment. A convex mirror is affixed to the HIC building which, if seen, would have alerted both people to the danger.

Nov. 13
A student reported the theft of the hub caps from her 1990 Honda Accord as the vehicle was parked in the southwest parking lot.

Nov. 14
A student’s white 1998 GMC pick up was struck in the northeast lot by a vehicle that left the scene without leaving any identifying information. An unknown witness left a note describing that vehicle as silver Toyota Echo.

Nov. 14
The driver of one of the vehicles of the previous accident, reported to College Safety that he saw a box of handgun ammunition in the other car.
A Certified Officer responded and observed a handgun in plain view within the car. The student/driver was removed from class for further investigation. Two handguns were removed from the car by the Certified Officer and seized. The student was later counseled on district policy regarding firearms and the weapons were released to him as he left campus.

Nov. 14
Two vehicles were involved in a minor accident in the south parking lot near the theater. Information was exchanged between drivers.

Nov. 18
A student reported the theft of his Schwinn Mountain bike from the northeast corner of SC. The bike had been secured with a cable lock. No suspects are known.
