Handel’s ‘Messiah’

For the fifteenth year, the performance of highlights from Handel’s “Messiah,” will be presented at South Mountain Community College. Nearly 75 students, employees and community volunteers will join for a holiday concert performed on Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union of the college.

The performance will be directed by the head of the SMCC Music Department, Dr. Jerome K. Garrison. More than 50 vocalists and 25 instrumentalists volunteer each year for the Messiah performance.

Free Symphonic Sound
The Mesa Symphony is bringing holiday cheer to the East Valley once again with its annual free family holiday pops concert. The concert is being presented at the Mesa Amphitheater and is sponsored by the City of Mesa and Target Stores. The Symphony is led by music director Gordon J. Johnson and will be performing family favorites including “Sleigh Ride,” “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas,” “Little Drummer Boy,” selections from “The Nutcracker,” and more. Event takes place on Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. For more information, call (480) 827-2143.

A Joyous Cabaret At Unity
Listen to a musical performance featuring local Valley professional musicians and soloists including Renee Morgan Brooks, James Crowley, John Halliburton, and Mountain Rain. The performance is directed by Joe Bousard and asks for a $12 donation to attend. Performance takes place on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at 1837 W. Guadalupe suite 105.

Holiday Music
Enjoy the top three performance level choirs of the Phoenix Girls Chorus performing classical holiday arrangements. The performance takes place at the First United Methodist Church 5510 N. Central Ave. Phoenix. The concert takes place on Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m., ticket prices are $10 for adults, $6 for children, and $8 for students and seniors. For tickets, call (602) 252-5562.
