New release circulates many rumors
By Carly Schorman
For the Mesa Legend

The Soul Affirmation Quiz is the latest thing to circulate the valley’s garage rock scene. The brainchild of Nick Hadik serves as a testament to electronic music and the splendors of MIDI, Musical Instrument Digital Interface. Many will argue that the computer generated sounds found on the Quiz take away from the purity of music. However, the artist’s mellow, flowing sound is original in style and composition. The simple melodies leave the listener refreshed, but few will listen to the whole album.

The entirely instrumental album is a far cry from mainstream pop, especially in America’s current icon-driven music industry. The sweet trance-inducing tracks identify easier with the pop found in Britain or Japan.

Judging by the success of similar artists like Sean Lennon or Belle and Sebastian, Hadik can expect little more than a following of few despite Hadik’s success at creating an album completely original and entirely alone through the aid of modern musical technology.
Whether or not the method is “pure” the music certainly is. Whether Hadik returns to a more convential form of music or not, he’s certainly worth watching.
