All-woman panel an
ASMCC first
Stacey Vincent
Contributing Writer

For the first time in MCC student government history, ASMCC has an all-female board.
Along with the other three members of the executive board, Bonnie Capen, president of the board, is excited for a new year with tons of goals and new changes.
“All of the women on the board are diligent, dedicated people,” Capen said.
One of the most obvious changes to the board is the absence of a male influence.
“Although a male board member would have been more than welcome, it is not a male influence, per se, that makes a difference on campus. It is the influence of the people like our board members, people who are dedicated to their passions and diligent when it comes to their work,” explained Capen.
Along with many of the changes the women have dealt with for the upcoming year, an important one is the new platform.
The platform is re-created every year.
Capen described their future plans, saying, “This year we hope to improve the campus in many ways. One of the ways is to increase our ever-growing student population’s awareness of the resources available to them.”
The ASMCC plans compile a catalog of services for students, including financial aid and Veterans’ assistance.
“This year, ASMCC will also be working to improve campus events that we sponsor. One major change ASMCC will be a part of, along with Alumni Services, is the expansion of the homecoming day events,” said Capen..
