Letter to the Editor
I enjoyed Daniel Raven’s well-written article. As an instructor, I am also concerned with plagiarism. I wish I had known this article was in the works. I have a plagiarism story to add.
Last year at ASU, in a class of 34 students, nine students plagiarized the same online term paper (all or in part). In addition to this, and unbeknownst to them, they submitted the paper to a professor who knew the paper well. It had been submitted to him in a previous year, and he knew it was published online.
The professor gives take-home exams, with a choice of three questions. Do the math and the scope of the problem becomes apparent.
