The 52-32 triumph of MCC’s football team over New Mexico Military
Academy was a result of “mental preparation,” according
to wide receiver Steve Kennedy.
After a rocky start, the first home game of the year also marked the
first victory this season.
Mesa began the game receiving the ball, and fought aggressively throughout
the first quarter, scoring two touchdowns, and holding the New Mexico
Military Academy Broncos to one touchdown.
MCC’s Thunderbirds beat Scottsdale Community College’s
Fighting Artichokes 7-1 on Oct. 3. MCC’s soccer team was
9-2 at the time, while SCC’s record was 1-8.
From the start, MCC put on the pressure and never let up, applying
a strong and steady offense that kept the ball close to the SCC
goal for the majority of the game. MCC’s first goal was
scored 10 minutes into the game, off a header by Scott
Douglas.
Third baseman Christina
