Risque costumes a
popular choice

“Some parties wont let you in if you don’t dress up, or you’ll get a discount like free beer with a costume,” MCC student John Smallwood stated.
Dressing up for Halloween is not just a children’s pastime.
“College kids dress up for humor, perverse humor,” Amber Teselle, a student at MCC said. Teselle and a male friend are dressing up as “the Serena and Venus Williams rivals.”
The amusement of Halloween is frequently found through clever costumes, often risqué costumes for women and unique costumes for men.
Patty Hernandez, a manager at the popular costume shop, Halloween Headquarters, said, “The college guys want something different and unique, or something that goes with the movies that are popular right now.” She went on to say that the most business they receive from the college student age group was couples looking to coordinate through their costumes. “Pimps and hos, gangsters and flappers; they’ll always be popular.”
“For girls, we feature a lot of costumes that show a lot of skin. The sexy nurse is always big,” she added.
MCC student Tinina Vazquez said that she dresses up every year and makes all of her friends dress up. “This year I’m going as a gothic whore,” she said.

Billy Culbertson, a student at MCC, added that he dresses up to “find lovin’.”
Smallwood stated, “I’m dressing up with all my friends. We’re going as Sunset Boulevard pimps.”
