Friends
recall couple's warmth
Corey Hunt
Mesa Legend
While the murder of MCC student Lisa Gurrieri and her boyfriend,
ASU student Brandon Rumbaugh, remains under investigation, friends
and family are remembering their lives.
To celebrate their one-year anniversary, the couple parked near
Bumble Bee Road about two miles from Interstate 17.
Camped out in the back of Gurrieri’s mother’s truck,
their modest celebration was interrupted by gunfire as unknown assailant(s)
gunned down the couple.

The
Peervention Volunteer Program recently completed its Peervention
Awareness Week, which was an event that focused on prevention education
for alcohol and other drug abuse.
The week, titled “Tell It Like It Is,” was highlighted
by a series of workshops and seminars aimed at providing information
on the effects of alcohol and other types of drug abuse.
Crista Adams, one of the creators of the Peervention Volunteer Program,
said the program is important because alcohol and drug abuse (AOD)
abuse is the No. 1 reason students drop out of college.
