Spotlight  
Students fill the many open seats in the library and the computer labs scattered along campus. The MCC Web Club has expanded in the last few years as student population has grown. This club was founded several years ago by the business department faculty to meet students’ needs college-wide. This club offers many opportunities for students interested in learning more about web technologies.

The Heard Museum Spanish Market is in full effect as fall begins. The second annual marketplace will be dedicated to Hispanic culture on Nov. 15 through Nov. 16.


Books   Learning
November Dialogue Day...
A presentation given by Dr. Jorge Eagar, an MCC Spanish Professor, will be held on Nov. 18 in the Kirk Student Center’s Kiva Room. Lunch will be served with discussion about Mexican religion and devotional practices in the Southwest.

Are you ready...
The American Red Cross is offering health and safety courses to students who are interested in learning CPR and first aid.
Participants will learn how to act in an emergency situation and to recognize and respond to life-threatening ermgencies. Paticipants learn CPR, rescue breathing, splinting and skills to control bleeding.
All student organizations will receive a 10 percent discount for all American Red Cross CPR and first aid classes. For more information please contact (602) 336-6493.

Passport around town...
The long lines and aggravating issues accompanied with getting a passport picture has to been dissolved. Now a easier way has been discovered.
The U.S. Postal Service’s Four Peaks Station located on 9855 East Southern Avenue will take your photo and your passport application all at once.
The application acceptance and photo taking will be held every Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There’s no appointment necessary and the cost is only $10.

Oct. 7
A student complained of acute abdominal pain while in a class in the MS building. Mesa Fire paramedics were called and opted to have the patient transported to Desert Samaritan Hospital by ambulance.

Oct. 8
A minor non-injury traffic accident between two students occurred in Lot “J.” Appropriate information was exchanged between the drivers.

Oct. 8
A College Safety police officer served an injunction against harassment to a student in the Kirk Center. The court order stems from an assault case involving two students that occurred on campus last month.

Oct. 10
A student at Red Mountain injured her ankle while stepping off of a curb in the Acacia Village parking lot. The student was advised to seek further medical care and was transported from the campus by her mother.

Oct. 10
A student reported that person(s) unknown broke into his Dodge pickup by smashing the passenger-side window as it was parked in Lot “I,” and stole his CD player.

Oct. 13
A student reported that during the morning hours someone may have thrown eggs at her blue Nissan Altima as it was parked in Lot “C.” The egg residue was discovered on her car a few hours after she left campus.


Oct. 13
A student suffered a seizure in an LA classroom and remained unconscious for approximately five minutes. Mesa Fire paramedics responded. The student refused further treatment and was transported home by a classmate.

Oct. 14
A student suffered a seizure and fell from her wheelchair while on the north side of the library. Mesa Fire paramedics responded. The student refused further treatment and was released to her mother.


Oct. 25
A student reported that his purple 1999 Dodge Neon was stolen from Lot “E.” The victim will also file a report with the Mesa Police Department.

Oct. 28
A staff member vehicle engine caught on fire in Lot L. The fire was quickly extinguished and there was no significant damage.
