Have you heard…
The Heard Museum Spanish Market is in full effect as fall begins.
The second annual marketplace will be dedicated to Hispanic culture
on Nov. 15 through Nov. 16.
The event is free to the public and will feature nearly 70 of the
best Hispanic artists hailing from New Mexico and Arizona. The show
will be selling santos, jewelry, tinwork and colcha embroidery.
Some famous artists will be represented, including Charlie Carrillo,
Michelle Tapia and Larry Yanez, who will be returning for this year’s
events.
Changing lanes…
ASMCC will host Into the Streets on Nov. 15. The event will take
place on the clock tower lawn from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more

Teachers emerge…
The Art Faculty Show sponsored by the MCC department of art will
take place from Nov. 10 to Nov. 20.
The Kirk Student Center’s Navajo Room will be the resting
place of the works of art. The opening reception will be on Nov.

Thanks to giving…
The Heard Museum will be having a Thanksgiving Celebration Nov.
28 to Nov. 30. Come experience amazing Native American culture and
art with music, dancing, and guided tours.
There will be 10 exhibits and even a shop where you can purchase
one-of-a-kind gifts for every member of the family.
Que vivan los muertos…
The Arizona State University Museum of Anthropology will be hosting
its fourth annual Day of the Dead exhibit Oct. 25 through Dec. 12.
Altars will be featured made by Hispanic artists and members of
the Valley community. The exhibit will be curated by Isaac and Marco
A. Albarran.
Listen up…
Students and teachers alike are invited to attend a presentaion
by Dr. Jody Olson, Deputy Director of Peace Corps. The informative
speech will be held on Nov. 19 from 12 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. in the
Life Science Building room LS201.
This will be kicking off the Peace Corps recruitment activites with
Community Colleges. The Peace Corps has changed its policy that
volunteers must be college graduates and is now accepting community
college graduates as well.
Veterans affairs...
The Veterans Day Gourd Dance and Community Potluck will
take place Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The even also commerates American
Indian Heritage Month. Started back in 1916 by the governor of New
York, the first American Indian Day was declared as the second Saturday
of May. Several states celebrate it the fourth Friday in September.
