During the holiday season the U.S. Department of Homeland Security raised the terror alert level to orange, causing security to increase in American airports. This decision affected travel plans throughout the country. Airports were swarming with uniformed officers accompanied by bomb-sniffing dogs. The rumors of terrorist attacks and plane hijackings had government and law officials operating with a heightened sense of awareness. There is an immigration problem in this country. The desert executions of three Latino men on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, a time when Americans give thanks for the aid offered without which our ancestors would have not survived in the new world, was just another example of how the United States is failing to resolve this issue.
Every year hundreds of thousands of immigrants enter this country illegally from Mexico.
