T-Birds’ Briefs

Men’s Basketball

Jan. 21 at Scottsdale Community College
SCC 71, MCC 68 OT
Mesa took a tough loss in overtime to the Scottsdale Artichokes. MCC’s Fred Marshall finished with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Micky Burtnyk followed with 15 points and 5 steals.
Mark Bunker led Scottsdale with 19 points.

Jan. 24 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College
MCC 67, CGCC 57
MCC’s Ryan Rourke led with 15 points and 6 rebounds followed by Fred Marshall with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Terrance Griffin led Chandler-Gilbert with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Women’s Basketball

Jan. 24 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College
MCC 86, CGCC 71
Brandi Steinke’s 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 steals led the Thunderbirds to this victory. Allie Gard’s stats followed with 15 points, 6 steals, and 6 assists. Kayli Kauzlarich chipped in with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Melissa Murray added 12 points and 7 assists for Mesa.
