Going local…
Local To Global presents the third annual L2G Teach-In: Sustaining
Our Collective Roots. The event will be held Feb. 20 from 4 to
9 p.m. and Feb. 21 9 to 6 p.m. at Arizona State University Campus
in the Farmer building.
There will be many keynote speakers, including Francis Moore Lappe,
author of “Diet for a Small Planet;” Tom Hayden, a
1960s radical and author of “The Zapatista Reader” and
Ward Churchill, author of “A Little Matter of Genocide.” There
will also be many musical guests, including David Rovics and Blackfire.
The two-day teach-in will be an exploration of contemporary issues
and struggles.
There will be over 30 panels and workshops covering several techniques for making
life sustainable. The admission will be free. For more information, please email

Artist’s call...
Arizona State University Public Events, which manages ASU Gammage Auditorium,
is now accepting applications for visual artists wanting to exhibit their work.
To be considered for these positions the artists must be prepared to hang and
remove their own work when the exhibit is over. Proposals from interested artists
should include a statement about their work; a resume that includes contact information
and no more than 10 slides representative of their work proposed.
The slides will be returned upon the completion of the jury process. For more

Some cheese with that wine...
Visitors of the Heard Museum North will have a treat on March 30 from 5:30 p.m.
to 7:30 p.m. Shonto Begay will be presenting a slide lecture about his life and
career as an artist, author and educator.
The wine and cheese program is an intimate event in which guests can interact
with the artists. Seating is limited, so arrive early. Guests will be privilaged
to see over 50 pieces of vibrant paintings, revolutionary poems, drawings and
woodcuts by the eloquent Kiowa/Caddo artist T.C. Cannon. The exhibition Paintings

Studio 54...
Studio 126 will be featured in an upcoming Gammage show. Studio 126
is group
of five Scottsdale artists who desire to go beyond the ordinary by exploring
new avenues of their artistic expressions. They will be showing works on canvas

A tune in tune...
The Phoenix Symphony will be visiting South Mountain Community
College on March 13 at 7 p.m. The event will be an exuberant performance
including Bernstein's “West Side Story,” John William's “Star
Wards” and Beethoven's Fifth. Tickets for the performance cost
