District won't offer 4-year degree

While legislators and citizens discuss whether to allow community colleges to offer four-year degrees, the Maricopa Community College District remains neutral and instead plans to continue to pursue an alliance with Arizona universities.

Drugs, alcohol and sex are the downfall of American life, two men shouted to students for about five minutes before being driven off campus by College Safety.
The two were preachers from The Door Christian Fellowship in Tempe, and were on campus just before 11 a.m., March 24 to pass out flyers for an upcoming revival and to preach their message.

Facing uncertainty over state funding, the Maricopa Community Colleges considered a proposal that could raise tuition and fees by $4 per credit hour.
The increase would mean students would be paying $55 per credit hour during the fiscal year of 2004-05. If approved, the proposal would increase tuition for full-time students taking 30 credit hours per year by $120 for an annual tuition cost of $1,650.

CORRECTIONS
On Page1of the May 9 edition, communications instructor Bruce Peterson was mistakenly referred to as Brian Peterson.

Also in the May 9 edition, the photograph depicting the Highland Games on Page 1 Al Kessel is credited with throwing a hammer. He is actually throwing a weight in the weight for distance event.
