Mike Helm

The men’s baseball team fell short on Mar. 25 to Olympic Community College from Washington.
The Thunderbirds pitched by committee during the game as they sent seven different hurlers to the mound.
Tom Johnson started the game on the mound for Mesa and ran into trouble early. He allowed two runs in the first inning, but eventually settled down, preventing any more damage.

Golf coach 'disappointed terribly'

The men’s golf team has not kept pace with their improving opponents this season. Last year the MCC golf team finished third in the conference; this year MCC is ranked as eight out of nine teams.
Coach Les Wimp said he “was disappointed terribly” this season.
Only one out of the eight players on the team is returning from last season.

Tennis
Josiah Barnett serves the ball against Pima Community College. The MCC men’s tennis team defeated Pima in a home game March 25. The Pima Aztecs had defeated the Thunderbirds previously this season, claiming the first conference victory over Mesa within the last three seasons. The T-birds won overall with a score of 6-1. Chad Turner, Barnett, Kenneth Alcalde, and Matt Schell were each victorious.
