Free help...
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program will be on campus for the next few weeks to help students, senior adults and economically disadvantaged clients file their tax claims. Service learning students, in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service, will help prepare tax forms free.
Clients should bring their W-2 forms and any other tax related support information. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. The service will run until April 10, and will be located at the main campus in the Career Center Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For those further out, MCC at Red Mountain will have volunteers on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, please call (480) 461-7393.

Who has an eye...

Twenty scholarship prizes for over $1000 will be awarded to the winners of a poster contest. The theme of the contest is “How is your vision?” and posters will be based on the artists' best interpretations of what the future will hold. Posters must be based in a subject field and include what types of classes that would be held in the year 2020. Deadline for entries are April 12. An application form must be submitted with the poster and some details apply for more information please call (480) 461-7666 or (480) 461-7313.

Cleaning out the closet...
The MCC library is accepting donations of used books in good condition for the annual used book sale to be held April 21 and April 22. The donations can be dropped off at library collection management in room AS 140 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. For more information, please call (480) 461-7674.

Catch a ride...

Artrain USA, the nation’s only art museum on a train, is set to pull into station in Tempe April 15. It will be the first stop in a four-year national tour with the exhibit. The total tally will include over 120 communities.
The focus will be on Native American art. The exhibit, Native Views: Influences of Modern Culture, will be open to the public. Admission is free and will include some art from local artists including paintings, photography, jewelry, mixed media, ceramics and much more.

A distant view...

The Center for Asian Studies at Arizona State University will be continuing its spring film festival with the last installment April 7. The film “Rouge” is a 1987 drama about a romantic ghost love story.
The film will have English subtitles and runs 96 minutes. For more information, please call (480) 965-7184.

A history...
Arcosanti will be hosting the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition currently running until April 25. The exhibit, Yesterday's Tomorrows: Past Visions of the American Future, will focus on what past Americans thought the future would hold. This is part of the Museum on Main Street program.
