Tuition is on the rise – again. In a 4 to 1 vote, the Maricopa Community
Colleges Governing Board decided to increase tuition four dollars per
credit hour. The hike will mean that students taking 30 credit hours per
year will now be paying $1650 in tuition. The vote comes after the proposal
was originally denied at the March 23 board meeting. In an April 27 news
release Board President Linda Rosenthal says, “No one likes to see
costs rise, but we simply cannot continue to offer programs and services
to students without asking them to share the cost of the increased expenses.”
The tuition increase will take effect on July 1, the beginning of the
fiscal year.
