The ASMCC (Associated Students of Mesa Community College) is back once again to lead Mesa Community College into another school year. The student body selected this year’s Executive Board last spring which consists of four officers that are responsible for the management and production of the ASMCC. They strive to promote a democratic form of government and unite the school in order to accomplish this goal. The Student Senate, another part of the ASMCC, forms ASMCC policy, enacts bylaws, debates issues, and keeps student representation in the school. Other parts of the ASMCC include the Cabinet and the Student Court where students review and rule on specific problems and issues brought to the court. In addition to governing the school, the ASMCC also organizes special events such as homecoming, community service projects, and assists student clubs. There are still positions available for the Student Senate. This position is perfect for students who are interested in representing clubs and students. Also, students who are skilled in debate or are interested in solving issues that affect the student body should apply. If you have any questions about the ASMCC please contact them at (480) 461-7278 or go on the internet at www.mc.maricopa.edu/organizations/student/asmcc. At that site you can also access some of the bylaws and the ASMCC constitution.
