The lady T-Birds have controlled the hardwood by winning two
out of their last three, beating South Mountain Community College
68-56 and Chandler Gilbert CC 93-84. The ladies lost to Arizona
Western 77-66 which is the score that Mesa beat them by earlier
in the season on Dec. 8.
The Mesa bowling team traveled to Las Vegas Jan. 29 and 30 for
the Brunswick Coca-Cola Classic at the Orleans Hotel and Casino.
In the women’s division, Mesa finished 13th overall above
major universities such as Washington State and Virginia Tech.
Mesa men finished 29th overall with Chris Weyrauch
leading the way with a 182.71 average.
Women’s tennis swept Glendale Community College in singles
and doubles for a 9-0 outcome leaving them with a 1-0 record on
the season.
Mesa men’s and women’s track teams produced eight
individuals and one relay team, Feb. 5, in Glendale to qualify
for NJCAA National Championships. Qualifiers included: Nick
Adamson (high jump), Scott Rosenfield
(weight throw), Nathan Jonovitch and Shawn
Best (shot put), Shannon Waynewood and
Courtney Schooley (400 meters), Shana
Frost (pole vault), and Michele Amete
(weight throw, shot put). Women’s 4 x 400 meter team relay
includes Becky Brown, Shana Frost, Erica Judd,
and Courtney Schooley.
