The stage lights dim low as the crowd eagerly awaits MCC’s most recent dance production “Cinemascape,” that was held on March 24 and 25at 7:30 p.m., in the Theatre Outback.
The opening scene consisted of the MCC Dance Company lavishly decked out as “flappers” and other characters representing generations ago.
Tina Rangel directed the production that was a dancing tribute “inspired by the movies that move us.”
In addition to the MCC Dance Company, On Tap and Propel also performed.
With about 21 different dancers, featuring all types of flashy outfits, stage makeup and an array of different music, the night made for a flashback to remember.
The music and choreography came from memorable classic movies such as Men In Black, ET and Star Wars.
Shalita Terrell, 20, and Rachel Wesselman, 18, are both part of the MCC Dance Company.
“The best part about being on this team is getting in front of the audience. I love to perform for them,” said Terrell, still pumped up after the production.
“I would have to agree. All of the long hours and rehearsals make us ready to get on that stage and feed off of the audience,” stated Wesselman.
Michael Catozzi, one of the only two guys in the company, was also satisfied and relieved after the show. “We spend about two days a week rehearsing. The day’s are long, but it’s worth it.”
The production consisted of ho downs, solos, duets, hip hop dances, and more.
The music including artists such as Hans Eimmer, Aaron Copland, Ciara, and Missy Elliot.
The MCC Dance Company, will hold auditions for the fall 2005 semester, at 2:30 p.m., April 28, in the dance room.
