Degrees make more money

Stay in school!
As a longtime homeowner, I have paid particular attention to prices of homes in the Valley.
The majority of residents used to have very moderately priced homes, and nearly anyone could have afforded one.
However, in the last few years, home prices have climbed to ridiculous levels, and they just keep on increasing.
Last year alone, the cost of homes increased nearly 25%, and there are no signs of prices slowing down for at least the rest of 2005.
This is great for the sellers, but bad news for medium-income families looking to buy a home.
The all but collapse of the semiconductor industry in the Valley has left thousands of additional families scrambling to make ends meet with lower paying jobs.
This is leaving many individuals and families with two choices--leave the Valley, or find a way to compete in this harsher environment.
Staying in school and attaining a higher education will generally lead to a higher income.
You could even give some additional thought into your field of choice and possibly plan for the potential collapse of it.
Working on a second degree, or at least earning credit toward one could save you a significant amount of headache in the future.
