Unhappy with language

I was quite amazed last week when I encountered on campus the advertising for “The Vagina Monologues.” Where I come from such terms are not for public display.
With interest I see the ACLU working to remove “The Law” from State Capitols. They say that the language is offensive and unfair. Arizona mandated the renaming of age-old landmarks because the term “squaw” was offensive and demeaning to a respected culture.
I am surprised that a highly respected public-supported facility such as MCC would not exercise editorial privilege when confronted with literary (possibly theatrical) pornography. What’s to be staged next, “Penis Practicality”?
Should I be offended because I am not accustomed to such public use of our language? Possibly MCC could seek higher literary ground.
